What better way to commemorate the history of athletics at this storied university than with Yellowjacket Pride Prints? Recently the Yellowjacket Athletic department announced that it would be selling prints, or high quality pictures that give a glimpse into the history of athletics here at UW-Superior.
For a long time we've wanted to come up with something that would capture the spirit and the history of Yellowjacket Athletics. We had one meeting with Mr. Cortes and it was clear right away that we wanted him involved with this project," stated Athletic Director Steve Nelson.
Tim Cortes, a local artist, came in to the project with a local interest and a passion to deliver something that would catch people’s eyes. His goal was to capture as many sports as possible in conjunction with their highest accomplishments.
“We're excited to offer it to the public, as those that have already seen it have given us a very positive reaction,” says Nelson.
Prints can be purchased at various prices depending on the sizes but Nelson assures that there is one for almost any budget. If you would like to purchase a print contact the UW-Superior Athletic Department at (715) 395-4693 for more information.
The money raised will be directly donated back into the athletics department and will be spent on facilities maintenance and upgrades over time.
These prints include sports that many students today did not even recognize we had at one point such as football. They can definitely make for conversation starter pieces between different generations of alumni. So if you would like to donate to a good cause and take home a piece of history, pick up your print before it’s too late!
