After a strong rebound week, the University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s soccer team hit a bump in the road.
Fri., Sept. 17, marked the beginning of a rough stretch for the Yellowjackets as the Jamestown College Jimmies came to town and dropped a 5 to 1 thumping on UW-Superior. The bright side to this story is that freshmen midfielder Nichole Casler has continued to impress after scoring her third goal of the season and of her young career.
Things didn’t get any better for the ‘Jackets as they hosted the Stevens Point Pointers on Sat., Sept. 18 for the conference schedule opener. The Pointers blanked the Yellowjackets with a 9 to 0 shellacking. The Pointers charge was led by Kristi Nickels hat trick.
To finish off the three game stretch, the Yellowjackets hosted the University of St. Catherine’s on Wed., Sept. 22. St. Catherine’s didn’t show any sympathy for the ‘Jackets in this one as they cruised to a 7 to 0 victory and dropped the UW-Superior Yellowjackets to 2-6, 0-1 on the season.
Coming up for the women’s soccer team are two chances to turn things around starting on Sat., Sept. 25 at 12:00 p.m. at home against conference for University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (3-4, 2-0).
After that game the ‘Jackets have three days off before they head on the road to face the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (6-2, 1-0).
