This year’s disappointments continued over the past week for the University of Wisconsin-Superior Women’s soccer team. Their streak of shut out losses reached eight games before it was snapped.
On Wednesday, October 13, the Jackets hosted UW-Eau Claire (11-2, 5-0) and were handed a devastating 10 to 0 defeat. Gina Williams put in a hat trick to lead the Blu Golds attack. This loss dropped the Jackets to 0-4 in WIAC play.
Following that defeat, UW-Superior took a trip to Coon Rapids, MN on October 14 to face North Central University. Although this game was much closer and more competitive, the same result occurred as the Yellow Jackets were outlasted 1 to 0 in overtime.
Now holding a miserable 2-11, 0-4 record, the Jackets faced the task of traveling to Platteville to challenge Pioneers (10-6-1, 3-3-1) in a conference match up. This game resembled the Eau Claire game as UW-Platteville pummeled UW-Superior 11 to 0 and preventing the Jackets from obtaining their first conference victory of the season.
However, on October 20, the Jackets traveled to Milwaukee, WI to take on Alverno College and despite losing their eleventh straight game by a 3 to 1 margin, Nichole Casler scored their first goal September 17. The loss puts the Yellow Jackets at 2-13, 0-5 on the season with four games remaining in the season.
Upcoming for UW-Superior they host UW-Oshkosh Titans(6-7-1, 1-4-1) on Saturday, October 23 at 1:00 PM, then host UW-Whitewater Warhawks (7-6, 4-1) at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 24, followed by a trip to Dunbar, WI for a game against Northland International University whom the Jackets defeated 6 to 1 earlier this season at home.
