The UW-Superior women’s basketball team played a great first half against UW-Stout Blue Devils, going into half time with the score tied at 43, but the Jackets were unable to secure the game and lost 61-92.

The Yellowjackets shot almost 50% in the first half and made four of their ten three point shot attempts.

The Jackets were led by sophomore guard Katie Zavodny, who had nine points in the first half and shot 75% from the three point line.

In the second half, however, the Jackets struggled to get their momentum going and allowed the Blue Devils to go on a 15 point run in the first six minutes, followed shortly after that another seventeen point run.

The Jackets finished the game with 61 points, only scoring 18 in the second half struggle.

The Jackets couldn’t slow down the Blue Devils in the second half as they shot 70% in the second half, 54% for the game.

Zavodny finished the game with 12 points all from threes, to lead the team.

She was followed by sophomore Hailey Hart, and junior Kelsey Thingvold. They both finished the game with 10 points apiece.

Thingvold also led the team in rebounds with five.

The Jackets’ next game will be home against the UW-Platteville Pioneers this Saturday, January 23 at 1pm.
