The UWS Women’s Basketball team is in a rough stretch, losing two games in three days.
The ‘Jackets struggled to keep up with the UW-Whitewater Warhawks in a conference game on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Yellowjackets found themselves trailing at halftime with a score of 31-45. They didn’t improve in the second half and lost by 21 with a final score of 65-86.
However, the ‘Jackets did manage to have four girls score over ten points. They were led by Katie Zavodny, a sophomore from Boyceville, WI, with fifteen points and six rebounds. She was closely followed by Kelsey Thingvold, a junior from Crystal, MN, with twelve points and four rebounds.
Monday’s game against St. Scholastica wasn’t any better.
The ‘Jackets trailed the Saints for most of the game, going into halftime down by eight points. Then in the second half, the ‘Jackets started to come back after the Saints took a 21 point lead, but they ran out of time with the final score 82-71.
Connie Urmanski, a freshman from Edgar, WI, led the ‘Jackets, scoring with fourteen points. She was followed by Hailey Hart, a sophomore from Osseo, WI, with twelve points. Bri Davis, a sophomore from Hermantown, MN, led the team with twelve rebounds.
After this rough stretch, the ‘Jackets are 4-5 going into their next game against University of Dubuque at the Lacrosse Classic on Dec 29.
