With the third period reaching its end, senior defenseman Kim Schmeichel took a pass from Tyra and buried her first of the season by Falcons goalie Cassi Campbell with only 57 seconds remaining.

The’ Jackets shut the Falcons down in those final seconds and cruised to a 3-2 victory. Senior Melissa Kunzelman made 22 saves in the victory, improving her record to 3-2-1. Tyra had 2 points in the game, giving her the team lead in points with 6.

In the second game of the series, the ‘Jackets again jumped out to a first period lead as junior forward Teagan Cassan banged in a rebound to give the ‘Jackets the early 1-0 lead.

The lead was short-lived, however, as the Falcons responded 1:51 later on the power play to tie the game up 1-1 going into the first intermission.

The second period went scoreless up to the 14:48 mark when Falcons forward Brittany Erickson scored to give them their first lead of the weekend.

The ‘Jackets remained behind by a goal for the majority of the second and third periods until Tyra wtook a feed from junior Shana Katz to tie the game up 2-2.

With the game tied and the ‘Jackets having the momentum, the Falcons responded 1:44 later to take the much-needed lead. That lead held up strong as the Falcons scored an empty net goal with under a minute left to take the game 4-2.

Both Kunzelman and Campebell made 18 saves each.

Tyra has now recorded a point in 4 out of the last 5 games.
