Fraternities are something that most boys dream of joining during high school. You see the hype on movies, television shows, and even in books. Some boys go to a college solely for the goal to pledge to their father’s frat; to be a legacy. But, when a young man encounters UW-Superior, he may wonder, “Where are all of the Greeks?”

For five years, the only Greek life on our campus has been Phi Sigma Sigma. This sorority was reinstated in 2006 after a representative from Phi Sigma Sigma visited the campus.

This year, a few members of our campus have taken it upon themselves to organize an interest group that wants to bring a fraternity back to campus.

Bart Sonnenberg and Jay Bowers are the two main men of this operation. They have met with many campus leaders and administrators to get the green light on this project.

Their main selling point is that Greek life on a campus can bring a lot of positive change, such as another organization to do philanthropic work, put on fun events for students, and provide more leadership opportunities for students.

The anticipated first event for the frat is a co-sponsored event with Phi Sigma Sigma for a part of Phi Sigma Sigma's RUSH week.

"It's All Greek to Me" will be happening in the RSC Sky Lounge on October 12, 6:30-8:30 pm. The event is an opportunity for all interested and potential members of both organizations to learn more about Greek life and how they contribute to the campus community.
