On Saturday, October 24, the UWS Cross Country teams participated in the Jack’s Run 5K in Minneapolis, MN at the beautiful University of Minnesota golf course.
There were over 125 runners in this event. Many runners were not running for a college or high school; however, UWS was not the only college that was taking part in the event. University of Minnesota also ran in the event.
This fun, laid-back event turned out to be a good day of running for both teams.
The men’s cross country team had two runners finish in the top ten out of sixty-three. Scott Behling, with a time of 17.03.36, finished sixth, and Jordan Peterson, with a time of 17.16.72, finished eighth.
Others didn’t fall far behind with Taylor Gombos finishing twelfth and Seth Neumann finishing sixteenth.
For the women’s cross country team, there were four members who made the trip to Minneapolis.
Their best finish was Jenna Halverson, with a time of 22.02.07. Her three teammates finished soon after – Cassey Hoffmann at 23.06.70, Natashia Hinzmann at 23.43.32 and Kristen Jasperson at 23.53.10.
“[I] thought we all had a pretty good day and helped us get ready for next weekend’s conference meet,” said Gombos.
The conference meet will be held at Whitewater on Saturday, Oct. 31. The teams leave Friday, October 30 in the morning to take the long bus trip down to Whitewater. This will give them time to get relaxed and lose the bus legs from the long trip before the conference meet.
