Ronnie Jordan, the comedian who performed at the snack bar on Tuesday, Nov.3, turned out to be quite a success. He got good reviews from the students, most of them saying he was “great,” or “pretty decent,” and one even going so far as to call him “amazinacious.”

Ronnie’s jokes were pretty standard, including the expected college jokes, Midwest jokes, marriage jokes, and jokes about kids.

Some of the more memorable one-liners included:
•    “If you don’t like Capri Suns, you’re a racist and I hate you,”
•    Something to the effect of “Women don’t doodoo. Magical fairies turn their poop into potpourri,”
•    “What is this delicious beverage? It tastes like Nyquil and Popsicles!” (referring to Jagermeister).
•    “You know how long it took me to find a fat black tuxedo man? I had to glue a doll head on top of a bear.”

Like Rob Little, the comedian who came to UWS earlier this year, Ronnie also made fat jokes and jokes about roommates, and recognized the fact that Jay Bowers was the only black guy in the room (besides Ronnie).

Some of the highlights of the act, based on the laughter level, were Ronnie’s jokes about remedial classes, poop (strangely enough, no matter how old we are, we still seem to find poop jokes hilarious), and “choking the Republican,” to be euphemistic.

Ronnie Jordan was crowned Rookie of the Year in 2001 by the Uptown Comedy Corner, and “Wittiest” in his high school yearbook. In fact, he still has the yearbook picture and it’s posted on his Facebook page at facebook.com/comedianronniejordan.

He started his comedy career in college, where he appeared at open mic nights and was a major hit. College audiences are also his favorite to perform for because he feels like he can relate to us and vice versa.

He’s done shows in Germany, Bermuda and every state except Alaska and Hawaii; throughout all of this, he’s only been booed once.

He still gets nervous before every show, but always has fun, and truly loves his job.

This love for comedy and making people laugh certainly showed through in his performance, and the show was overall a hit with the student body.
