In honor of Super Bowl XLIV, the University of Wisconsin-Superior held the Football Frenzy Finale, a giant Super Bowl party for any UW-Superior students and faculty. Throughout the night, around seventy people attended the event that was highlighted by food, contests and prizes.

The Frenzy started with a pregame in the Crownhart basement at 3:00 pm that was sponsored by the Residence Life staff. During the pregame food such as pizza rolls, mozzarella sticks and boneless chicken wings were served while students gathered to share their Super Bowl predictions and watch the pregame commentary.

When the game was about to start everyone headed over to the Health & Wellness Center and gathered in Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium to watch the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts battle it out on the big screen.

The UWS Barbeque Club grilled hot dogs, and popcorn and a root beer keg where also available to attendees.

Halftime yielded a football toss, a nacho bar and an impaired driving course in which individuals had the opportunity to wear beer goggles and maneuver a tricycle around an obstacle course.

“This event gets everyone together and is a good, friendly competition in a nice environment,” said sophomore Cory Mareno from Phillips, WI.

Emmanuel Tucker, a sophomore from Milwaukee, WI, added, “Something like this is how you bring a campus together. It also allows people to unite over a common interest.”

The night ended with the Saints on top, 31 to 17 over the Colts.
