A hundred people gathered at the YU Shippar Atrium on Friday night for the first Open Mic Night of the semester. The lights were dim, performers were anxiously waiting for their turn on the stage, and the audience was excited. Open Mic's animated emcee Andrew Kirov was dressed in a classy suit jacket and powder-blue tie, letting the audience know that Open Mic Night is not just your ordinary coffee-shop open mic night, but a swanky event where the lovely talent of UW-Superior gathers. There were singers -- singers with guitars and singers with upright basses -- as well as comedians, bands, and poets performing their pieces for the audience.
The next Open Mic Night will be on Thursday, October 20th.
