Nearly fifty people stopped by the Colleges Against Cancer’s “Pucker Up and Kiss Cancer Goodbye” event in the Yellowjacket Union Shippar Atrium Feb. 10 during the lunch rush.
CAC is a nationally recognized organization that exists on several college campuses. It is a collegiate level branch of the American Cancer Society that is designed to allow students and staff to work through many different channels in the fight against cancer.
The goal of the “Pucker up” event is to sell t-shirts for $10 dollars to raise money for American Cancer Society and increase cancer awareness.
A second t-shirt table was also set up in the breezeway between Old Main and Erlanson Hall. This table also consisted of cookies for sale. So far there have been around 30 t-shirts sold.
CAC members working the event were also encouraging students and staff to sign up to participate in the Relay for Life event, coming to campus April 23-24.
Sophomore Jordan Rastetter from Somerset, WI said, “This is an important event because with new buildings being put up and new things going on around campus, it is a good simple reminder to help educate people on things that are important such as the battle against cancer.”
“It supports cancer awareness, which is a wonderful thing!” said senior Melissa Sparks from Crandon, WI.
CAC will be in the Atrium and Breezeway again February 11, from 11 AM – 1 PM.
