Students are feeling the pressure this week as they are assigned projects and given tests that could hold up to fifty percent of their course grade. Midterm week seems to put a strain on nearly all the student population.

“There’s just not enough time to get this stuff done,” said junior Julie Sari. “I’ve had to stay up all night lately.”

Sari and three other classmates were working on a group project for a communications class Wednesday morning.

“I haven’t been able to fall asleep before 1 AM this whole semester,” said junior Josh Damel.

“Our teacher seems to be piling up projects for us recently,” added freshman group member Sarah Mahnke.

Tests have been a large burden for senior Maria Gannucci.

“It’s hard to study for three tests in one week when I still have to work,” said the senior, who is majoring in Sociology.  Gannucci typically works 35 hours a week while maintaining her status as a full time student. “It’s all about managing my time well. I try to study one subject at a time; otherwise it’s hard to focus.”

Students aren’t the only ones under stress. Faculty must have midterm grades submitted by Friday. Any student with a current grade of D or F at that time will have a letter sent to their home informing them of their standing.

Upper level students have no fear. Midterm grades are only sent to students enrolled in 100 and 200 level courses.
