University of Wisconsin-Superior students practiced their vampire impersonations as Vampire Veek continued on Thursday, Oct. 29 with a blood sucking contest.

It wasn’t real blood, though. It was virgin Bloody Mary mix which students had to drink in less than 10 seconds in order to win a Halloween treat.

The best time recorded was two seconds.

“He just kind of opened the back of his throat and sucked it in,” said Yellowjacket Activities Crew member Tyler Miller. “He gave us enough time to look up and see the cup was empty.”

Most students gagged slightly after they finished.

“[It was] disgusting!” said Violeta Chocarro.

Some students, however, liked it.

“It was actually pretty good,” said Jennifer Maier. “I like Bloody Marys, though.”

Subu Joshi agreed with Maier.

“It was good – just like ketchup,” she said.

YAC member James Detert had a different reaction when he decided to give the contest a try.

“Ugh… it was nasty!” he gagged. “That stuff was bad. People drink that?”

In addition to the blood sucking contest, YAC also had a keg of root beer they were passing out to students to promote the movie The Hangover showing in KOT at 8:00 on Thursday night.
