The Winterfest cancellation may not be so bad after all.
The Winterfest committee and student organizations stepped up and brainstormed ideas in last weeks’ meeting. Suggestions like a snowshoe race, window decorating, gingerbread house contest, and more have been discussed. Although the budget cuts present a challenge, activities are not meant to create a financial burden for the student organizations.
The dates of Winterfest are also subject to change, possibly before spring break. Because of the dates this week would be called “Spring Fever,” which would involve fun student-centered activities.
Winterfest lead student Jesse West said, “It is important to note that this week (Spring Fever) in no way is meant to replace Winterfest. Instead we want to do it as an event that allows students to be involved in campus events, both planning and participating.”
This “Winterfest lapse” has allowed students to come forward with new ideas and contribute to getting students involved within the campus.
