Have you ever thought you could do a great Buzz impersonation? Well now is your turn to prove it, and get paid for it too!
UW-Superior Student Involvement is looking for students whom think they have the school spirit and energy it takes to be a Yellowjacket mascot. The positions that need to be filled include Buzz the Yellowjacket, the Men and Women in Black, and Black and Gold Groupies, also known as Buzz’s helpers.
Certain qualities that are important for any student who would like to apply for these positions are that they are outgoing and energetic. Students should get the crowd involved in a fun but safe way at games. At other events, interacting with individual people and having fun is important.
A new perk to the position, starting this semester, is that Buzz now gets paid anywhere from $5 to $20 per event.
Although there is no special training required for these mascot positions, there are guidelines that need to be read before using any mascot costumes. Campus Traditions Intern Allie Kozisek also suggests that students try the costume on and walk around to get used to the weight of the costume before they go out in public.
Applications for these positions are available online as well as at the Information and Service desk in the Yellowjacket Union and are due February 1.
