When a person thinks of running at UWS, the name Scott Behling is the first name to come to mind. He has taken over campus with his electrifying running ability. Behling has been the top runner at UWS the past two years in both cross country and track & field. He holds the 3000 meter track record, with the potential to break three or four more records this upcoming track season. All running accolades aside, who is Scott Behling? Let’s find out!

How long have you been running?
I started in sixth grade. I was doing these Wednesday night races that my dad took me to.

Why do you like running so much?
You know when you are on a team sport; it feels good to be a part of something. I have always been a part of a team sport, whether it has been hockey or soccer.

What brought you to UWS?
It was just a small school.

Were you recruited to run?
Yeah, Paul Nisius recruited me. I liked him. I felt that he knew what he was doing. Matt Kramer had a lot of success here so why not.

What is your dream job?
It would be nice if I could coach or do something in the video game industry.

Will you continue to run competitively for the rest of your life?
I’d like to run fairly competitive until I can’t. I’d like to see how far you can go.

What do you do when you’re not running?
I like to go hunting, go fishing quite a bit. I fish in Lake Superior, especially. I like to play chess quite a bit. Me and my dad play a lot. I also like to play video games.

What is your favorite video game?
The COD [Call of Duty] series

What is your major and minor at UWS?
Communications is my major. I haven’t declared a minor yet.

Do you have any advice for people out there who aspire to be as good a runner as you?
You got to put the time in, in anything you do.
