The Student Government Association met briefly on Monday
night to approve ballots for the
upcoming election of next year's officers and representatives. Next year's
Student Government President and Vice President candidates will be debating on
Tuesday, April 5, 2011. The debate will begin at 1:00 PM and will be held in
the Yellowjacket Union.
After the meeting adjourned, the representatives set up for “Meet Your Government” night in the Shippar Auditorium. Senators displayed information about their committees and projects, and were available to explain what they were doing for their constituents.
“We want to inform students as to what the Student Government Association has done for them and what we're working towards,” said President Jessica Duffy. In stressing the importance of the governing body, she referred to the writing of the proposals for the differential tuitions which were presented to the Board of Regents for implementation, and also working on SUFAC goals, which will continue into next year. Another important activity for the student government is their work with United Council, a group representing students' interests in state government.
