The Student Government Association meeting on Mon., Feb.
7 opened with a call for reports from members and representatives.
Vice President Baumann started by urging everyone to take the Climate Survey, available on the University's homepage under “Share Your Voice.”
In other business, the University may be dropping the partnership they use to disperse financial aid.
“The Administration is 90% certain they will not use Higher One” for dispersing student funds next year, said Director Saroj Dhital. The Bursar's office is looking for ideas on how to handle distributions next year. Senator Dhital also asked for the senators to think about the best ways to communicate with students.
Planning for the next Student Government Night was discussed. The date has been set for April 4th. President Duffy, while acknowledging that the fall program worked very well, said that she was hoping for a more formal and informational event.
The SGA body broke into small informal clusters for the senators to discuss how to proceed with their pet projects, some of which include a concession stand at the baseball/ soccer field, a plan to centralize a smoking area, uniform recycling bins campus-wide to reduce confusion, exploring ways to establish coordination with all the libraries in the area and exploring how to implement a plan for student medical amnesty.
Finally, Assistant Dean Fanning reminded everyone that the Job Fair will be held on Feb. 16th. After chiding everyone for their less than professional attire, Senator Dean was cited for his dignified appearance.
