Once again University of Wisconsin - Superior residence halls decorated the halls and opened their doors for trick-or-treaters on Halloween night.

Each floor in the residence halls was decorated by residents, and the decorations were judged before children came at 5:00.

The second floor of Curran-McNeil Hall won first place, second floor of Crownhart Hall won second, and the fourth floor of Ross Hall won third.

“I started at 10:30 a.m. and we finished decorating at 3 pm. It was tiresome, but worth it,” said Matt Amerson, the RA on Crownhart’s 2nd floor.

It was estimated that over 1000 children came for trick or treat in the halls last year. Tim Berg, the Crownhart assistant director estimated that it was similar this year.

Children of all ages came all dressed up as princesses, princes, kings animals, scarecrows, ghosts,  and pumpkins, to name a few. The children were led through the residence halls by RA tour guides, who all got into the Halloween spirit by donning costumes of their own.

While some children were old enough to carry their bags and buckets to get candy, little children in their trolleys also asked for trick or treat with the help of their parents.

By 6 p.m., all of the residence halls had run out of candy. The children who came in late got a little disappointed, but they were told that next year will be better because there will be a lot of candy to last for the two hours scheduled.
