Sarah Gruber has been voted Stinger Player of the Week by students and staff. Gruber is a 5’7” junior out of Belgrade High School in Belgrade, Minn. She is a both a setter and defensive specialist for the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjacket volleyball team.
“I play volleyball because it's a family tradition. I am from a big family, and i swear, the volleyball and competition is in our blood,” Gruber said. “I have been playing volleyball since I can remember and I haven't stopped playing. I don't plan to anytime soon either. I want it to be a part of my life ‘till I physically can't anymore. It is a huge part of my life.”
Although the UW-Superior volleyball team is young and has no seniors on the squad, Gruber is one of four juniors that helps lead the youthful team.
“I feel honored to be voted as student athlete of the week. It feels good to be noticed for all my hard work and dedication,” Gruber declared.
The volleyball player came to UW-Superior for the counseling program.
“UW-Superior has a great program for counseling,” stated Gruber. “Also, I love the scenery of the twin ports, and Duluth/Superior area.”
