Technology misrepresented

I was reading your satire piece on the last page of the most recent issue of the stinger. This issue was regarding the printers and the fact that supposedly "none of them work". As a junior with experience on the matter, I feel that this article is harsh and misrepresents the technology on campus. The printers on campus are being constantly maintained and students have more than enough resources to be able to print their material. It is more the occurrence that "user error" or misunderstanding basic technology is leading to the frustration. Furthermore, lack of preparation and procrastination is at fault in most cases; while all of the blame is focused on the technology and "the magical insta-printer" doesn’t work for you so you get immaturely mad at an inanimate object that only does what you tell it to do.

What really told me that this piece was not only missing punch lines as a satire piece, but handing out awards for "captain obvious" without knowing it was when a professor was recognized for his "revolutionary idea"...which was clearly something in place called D2L

To conclude this I feel that there should be a second piece pointing out where people are clearly ill-informed. It would be of this article stating that not only do the 6 new printers in the library work, the 3 in old main, the 2 in MWC, and 2 in each dorm work just fine. But the 3-4 popularly used in the Yellowjacket Union usually are in full working order...that’s why people use them so much.

Still love the magazine, just think there is potential in another article.

Thanks,

Brandon Olander
