The art exhibit, California Artists
Abstractions: Midcentury and Beyond from the collection of Robert and Frances
Leff, will be on display at the Kruk Art Gallery in the Holden Fine and
Applied Arts Center from Feb. 7 to Mar. 11. The exhibit features artists in
California starting in the 1940s to the late 1900s.
According to the exhibit’s brochure, the exhibit is a brief survey of post WWII modernism created by artists who have lived in California for part of their career. Many of the artists were former soldiers and returned to California to continue their education in art. Some of them have become important teachers. Some of those artists whose work will be displayed is Karl Kasten (University of California Berkeley), Robert McChesney (Sonoma State), Dennis Beal (San Francisco State) and artist Dick Swift (Long Beach State).
The reception for this exhibit will be Feb. 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. So if you would like to get a look at what these artists have created over the years, feel free to drop by the Kruk Art Gallery between Feb. 7 and Mar. 11. The Kruk Art Gallery is open Mon-Fri 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
