For the tenth year in a row, the University of Wisconsin-Superior is showing Native American artwork on campus from area high school students and recognized Native American artists.  The artwork has been exhibited since April 6 and will continue to be shown daily to the public in the Kruk Gallery, which is located in the Holden Fine and Applied Arts Building.

This year marks a record number of students from twelve Minnesota and Wisconsin high schools displaying their art work.  Forty-nine Native American students are participating this year to not only show part of their artistic ancestry, but to possibly win a scholarship towards attending UW-Superior.

The Native American Art Scholarship will be awarded to one of the student whose artwork is on display.  The scholarship is worth $1,000 and is given to the student if he or she decides to continue an education at UW-Superior.  The scholarship recipient will be decided by faculty members from the Visual Art department.

The winner of the scholarship will be announced on April 29 during an artists’ reception which starts at 6 p.m.  The reception follows an art sale of the works displayed, amongst others, which takes place from 3 to 5 p.m.  The art sale takes place in the lobby outside of the Kruk gallery while the reception will be held in the gallery itself.

The gallery of artwork is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
