If you're a Communicating Arts major, you probably know who Tom Notton is. If you're a CA major who does not know who Mr. Notton is, you most likely will know in the near future. If you're not a CA major, buckle up, because it is time to get to know a senior lecturer, adviser, and all-around great resource for the Communicating Arts department.
Let's get to know Tom Notton...
How long have you been teaching at UWS?
I started here in 1989. There was a period where I left for a little while, but I have been here for about 18-19 years.
What kind of classes do you teach?
Video Production, DVD production, Graphics, Audio Production, and Introduction to Communications.
Where did you go to college?
I actually attended UWS from 1982-1986. I got my Bachelors degree in Mass Communications and minored in Health Education, then I went to Syracuse in central New York for my Master's degree.
What is your favorite breakfast cereal?
Honey Nut Cheerios.
What is the first album you have ever purchased?
Billy Joel's Glass Houses in 1985 or 1986.
Do you have a favorite pizza topping?
Sausage and pepperoni.
Do you play any musical instruments?
No. I tried the piano once, but that didn't work.
Where did you grow up?
Actually, I grew up right here in Superior.
If you could choose any other profession, what would you choose?
I think I would like being a family practice doctor.
What advice would you give to a stranger?
It would depend on who the stranger was and what kind of situation we were in. If it was a new student, I would give them advice about classes, etc.
