Emily Borra is someone one should probably get to know, seeing how she is our new student body president! She is the type of person that can sit down and chat with anyone, so that's exactly what we did! Let's get to know Emily Borra...
Emily, what is your major?
I am a French Horn Performance major, and I have an individualized minor: Environmental Science.
How long have you been playing the French Horn?
12 years!
What is your favorite thing about Autumn?
The smell in the air when the leaves change colors.
What is your dream job?
I would like to be a Naturalist in the summers and teach French horn at a college during the other seasons. Also, I think it would be really cool to be Ann Miller when I grow up. It would be so fun to be Ann Miller.
What has been your favorite class at UWS thus far?
My Geology classes; band, of course; and Film and Culture was pretty cool!
Tell us about your favorite birthday party growing up.
I think it was my 5th or 6th birthday. My birthday is October 25th, so I had a Halloween-themed party. We all had costumes, and my mom and I made Jell-O jigglers. My aunt even dressed up as Cat Woman!
What was the first CD you ever purchased?
The Lion King soundtrack! I was about five years old.
If you could change UWS' school colors, what would you change them to?
I honestly would not change them at all. Black and Gold are strong, bold colors. It shows we are a strong community. If they were purple and black, it would be Regal, and we aren't that kind of campus.
Do you play any other instruments besides the French horn?
Yes, I actually started out as a piano and horn major. Then I wanted to be an Instrumental Music Instructor, so I had to learn all of the instruments. The strings were pretty tricky, though!
What are you most excited about as student body president this year?
Just getting out to do things on campus. Like last week I was the announcer for Grocery Bingo. It was so fun just to be amongst fellow students!
