Having trouble getting started on a paper? Do you need a second pair of eyes to go over your writing assignment? Are you stuck on the concluding paragraph on a research paper? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Writing Center in room 1030 at Swenson Hall is the place for you. They have Writing Consultants that help students with writing assignments during any point in the writing process. One of the Writing Consultants is Miss Amanda Kvam, a senior at UWS. Let's get to know Amanda Kvam...

What is your major and minor?
I am a Psychology major with minors in Spanish and Writing.

How long have you worked at the Writing Center?
Over three years.

What is your favorite part about working at the Writing Center?
All of the interesting people I get to meet that make appointments and just stop by.

What are your plans over Thanksgiving break?
I am going to work at my off-campus job and spend time with my family.

What is your absolute dream job?
To become an author of books in the marriage and family counseling field. I would like to be a marriage and family counselor, too.

Have you changed since when you first started at UWS?
Yes. I am more open-minded about certain things now than when I started. I went to a small high school and I realize now that I was more sheltered there.

What do you do to relax before finals time?
I sleep a lot! I also hang out with my friends when I can.

What is your go-to movie when you are feeling down and need a boost?
Meet Me in St. Louis. I really like that movie!

What class do you recommend that every student at UWS take?
Writing 209, Business and Professional Writing. Every student should be able to write memos, resumes, cover letters, and be able to research documents before they graduate from here. This class is very beneficial to all majors.

Is there anything you wish you did that you didn't do during your time at UWS?
I wish I had more time to take classes that interest me more. Some classes are just starting to be offered now that weren't offered in the past. Other than that, I think I've done everything that I really wanted to do.
