Junior midfielder Elizabeth LeQue (River Falls, WI) was named the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar Athlete for women’s soccer and named to the WIAC All Sportsmanship team.

LeQue, who has battled injuries in her career at University of Wisconsin - Superior, is very deserving of both awards as she has continued to excel in the classroom during the rebuilding stages of Yellowjacket women’s soccer.

The WIAC Scholar Athlete award is given to the most outstanding individual from each conference sport who exhibits high levels of academics, athletics, and leadership.

“I am excited about it, but am only deserving because of the training I received from all my professors and Coach [Melissa] Nelmark and Steve Nelson in the athletic department,” said LeQue. “My teammates were a great support over the last seasons, and despite injuries everyone was very helpful, encouraging and accommodating.”

The WIAC All Sportsmanship team is comprised of athletes throughout the conference who show excellent leadership and good character on and off the field.

She has contributed greatly to the rebuilding process of the women’s soccer team, as she was one of only two juniors on this year’s team that was made up of mostly freshman and sophomores.

“I am honored and am happy that I have contributed to the growth and development of UWS," said LeQue.

During her playing career at UWS, she has compiled 5 goals and 5 assists as a starting midfielder.
