Practice for the UWS women’s basketball team began on October 15 and the team is more than ready to start the season.
In addition to the excitement of starting the upcoming season, the team was informed that they are scheduled to play the Badgers next year.
Some of the other big events for the team this year will be heading out to North Dakota for an exhibition game and playing in two tournaments – one in Sheboygan at Lakeland College in November and also the Lacrosse Classic over Christmas break.
With a great schedule set up, with some new experiences and trips along the way, the team is ready to start their journey through a new season.
In addition to many new faces, the team has some returning players to contribute to the team. Anna Peterson, Katie Sivanty, and Kelsey Thingvol are the captains this year. With their help, the team hopes to improve from last year’s record.
Coach Mualharn says there are improvements that have to be made.
“Two things that must be improved [this year] are taking care of the ball and hitting open shots,” said Coach Mualharn.
