'Jackets sweep Lumberjills

The University of Wisconsin - Superior women’s softball team played host to Northland College on Wed., March 31 and swept them in decisive fashion by scores of 11-2 and 9-0.
In game one, the ‘Jackets were led offensively by senior Jen Parchem who went 3-3 with 2 RBIs and also added three runs. Sophomore Taylor VanDamme went 2-3 with 3 RBIs and three runs scored, and added her 7th home run of the season. Freshman Lindsey Garay and sophomore Chelsey Jarzin also added two hits apiece.
Senior Kalli Kucharyski had a great game on the mound, giving up only two earned runs on four hits over 5 innings of work, earning the win.
In game two, Parchem and Jarzin continued their hot hitting, both going 2-2 in the game, with Jarzin also driving in three runs. Garay also added her 2nd home run of the season, while sophomore Ashley Martin and Kucharyski also added two hits in the game.
UWS got another great performance on the mound by Sophomore Amanda LeBard, who gave up no runs on one hit, and struck out three batters in five innings.
This sweep brings the ‘Jacket’s record to 16-2-1 overall heading into their always tough WIAC schedule. UWS travels to Menomonie, WI takes on UW-Stout on Thursday, April 8th.
