The University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s basketball team lost on the road to UW-Oshkosh February 13 with a score of 54-63.

The Yellowjackets went into half time down by three with a score of 23-26. UWS scoring was led by junior Kelsey Thingvold (Crystal, MN) with six points. Sophomore Bri Davis (Hermantown, MN) followed closely with five points in the first half. Thingvold also dominated the boards, snatching nine rebounds. In the first half UWS shot 30.4% and managed to hold their opponent to 31% shooting.

It was a little different story in the second half as the Yellowjackets couldn’t keep up with the Titans. UW-Oshkosh pulled away by seventeen at one point late in the second half.

The ‘Jackets ended up making a good effort at the end to come back, but just ran out of time.

Thingvold ended the game with her second double-double in a row at 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Freshman Connie Urmanski (Edgar, WI) scored nine points and sophomore Hailey Hart (Osseo,WI) scored five points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists.

UWS shooting got better in the second half, hitting 40.7% from the field and going four of 10 beyond the three point line.

The Yellowjacket women are 3-11 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 8-15 overall. They host UW-Eau Claire for their last home game this Wednesday, February 17 at 7 p.m. in Mertz-Mortorelli Gymnasium.
