Students from University of Wisconsin-Superior are gearing up and studying hard for finals, which are Wednesday December 16 through the 22.
The University’s library is packed with students finishing up final projects and studying hard for those up coming tests.
Ashley Ojala is a student at UWS who was in the RSC putting some touches on a final paper. When asked if she was ready for finals she said,
“I am ready for finals. I am not nervous. I think I will do pretty well,” said Ojala.
Jamie Jost is another student who was preparing for finals week.
“I have been in the library since this morning, and it is now night time.” she said. “I have been so busy with finals I have not had time to even take a shower today.”
Students who need extra help with studying should visit the Student Support Services. Students can find a tutor in any subject.
Those looking for math help can visit the math lab in Old Main 118. Tutoring for other subjects is located in Old Main 135.
“Don’t be afraid to seek help if you are struggling with a course – take advantage of the free tutoring services on campus – the Math Lab in Old Main room 118; the Academic Support Center in Old Main room 135; and the Writing Center in Sunquist room 119,” said Lon Bagley, program manager for the support center.
Bagley has some helpful tips when it comes to affective studying.
“Manage your time well – build regular study times into your daily schedule and stick to it. Plan ahead so you can prevent “cramming,” which you should try to avoid doing. Cramming tends only to work short term (poor long-term retention).
