More than 70 students crowded the Shippar Atrium in the Yellowjacket Union Tuesday night for a friendly game of Grocery Bingo. It was the first Grocery Bingo gathering of the semester, and students came out in swarms to enjoy a fun and exciting game.
Grocery bingo is just what it sounds like: playing a bingo game with the prizes being food instead of money. It is free and open to all students on campus. Students are allowed to play up to 2 bingo cards and the bingo games keep going until all grocery prizes have been given away.
There is a large variety of prizes given away as part of Grocery Bingo, ranging from chips to cookies to soda, as well as popcorn, candy, pudding, hot chocolate, juice and granola bars. The variety caters to different tastes that students have.
Andrew Kirov and Hannah Fiedler of the Yellowjacket Activities Crew hosted the event. They were enthusiastic hosts and got the crowd excited about the game and restocking their cupboards.
Students laughed, talked, and had an overall good time in the relaxed setting of the YU. It was a good place to go to take the mind off of the stress of another semester and have a little fun.
