Still thinking about what you should do after your undergraduate study?

Career Services recently held a workshop titled “Graduate School… Who Me?” that discussed the benefits of pursuing post-graduate education to earn your master’s degree or your PhD.

Although more schooling may not be too appealing after four or more years of college, Career Specialist Kathy Pykkonen says you should not rule out a PhD because “it could be a perfect plan for your major.”

If you don’t know the academic requirements to proceed to graduate school, don’t worry about it because your very own professors can help you out. They will advise you and help you narrow it down.

A good place to begin is looking at the initial reputation of the school. Start with the website. Every school has answers for the most frequently asked questions. Also, the website is the best place to gather information on the school you want to go to.

Talk to graduate school coordinators. Some of you may think that your department doesn’t have a graduate coordinator. Well, UWS has coordinators located in McCaskill. Just walk in there and ask a question or arrange an appointment.

If you are in your junior year, this is the best time to look at graduate schools. Contact schools now and apply to more than six schools to be on a safe side
