Although it was one of the coldest nights of the year so far, Dr. Vicki Fingalson and Dr. Jeffrey Madison found a way to illuminate the evening with their enchanting voices. Junior Maddie Grover said, “They are extremely talented…and I think it’s awesome that they are here in this area.”
The first act of the recital consisted of solo performances sung in German and accompanied by Dr. Beth Gilbert. The first piece, “Der Hirt auf dem Felsen”, by Franz Schubert, was accompanied by piano and Prof. Pamela Bustos on the clarinet.
In the second act, Dr. Fingalson and Dr. Madison sang together in English. Grover said, “I honestly thought the second act was better…the interaction between the two was exciting… I liked how they were both so animated.” She also pointed out that she liked that it was done in English.
Dr. Fingalson and Dr. Madison did a little acting with their songs as well; this made it more exciting for the audience. Freshman Kylie Cochran said, “I think the emotion becomes more evident when you see it in the performer’s body movements and on their faces.”
All in all, it turned out to be a delightful evening. Despite the cold, Tuesday night was filled with good music and laughter.
