Eagles soar past the Yellowjackets

The University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s basketball team lost to UW-Lacrosse in a conference game at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium with a score 44-66 on January 6.
The Yellowjackets were able to keep it close in the first half but never really had control, trailing by five going into halftime with the score 25-30.
The ‘Jackets were led in the first half by Junior guard Kelsey Thingvold (Crystal, MN) with five points. Sophomore guard Katie Zavodny (Boyceville, WI) did a great job getting the ball to all her teammates receiving four assists in the first half. UWS shot 34.5% in the first half and made five of their fifteen three point attempts.
The Eagles gradually pulled away throughout the second half and the Yellowjackets just couldn’t keep up. The 'Jackets were led by sophomore Hailey Hart (Osseo, WI) who posted 14 points. She was followed closely by sophomore Bri Davis (Hermantown, MN) who tallied 12.
Zavodny was able to finish the game with five assists.
UWS shot 29.6% in the second half and made no three pointers.
The Yellowjackets are now 2-10 in the conference going into their next conference game on Wednesday, January 10 at UW-Stout.
