The Department of Business and Economics rewards students majoring in different areas of business for their accomplishment at the University of Wisconsin-Superior during the 41st Annual Spring Banquet at the Barkers Island Convention Center, last Friday.

Following the social hour, students, from freshmen to senior, received certificates and awards in honor of their academic achievement in terms of grade point average, involvement on campus, and other criteria important to faculty of the department.

Caio Santos, an international business major, receives a Junior Highest Achievement Certificates, comments on the banquet: “It is way to show that hard work pays off”, says Santos. He also receives a DBE Scholar award for his academic performance in the DBE.

The audience, composed of students and their family, celebrates their accomplishment in music, dance, and celebration. Dr. Robert Beam performed the harmonica, singing about economics, before saying goodbye to the audience. Dr. Beam is retiring at the end of the semester, after serving as a teacher at UWS for over decades. Students also performed to celebrate

Thirteen different scholarships were awarded to close this banquet, helping over 34 students to cover tuition costs. The donors are close partners to the DBE, such as alumni.
