This graffiti was discovered in the handicapped stall of the first floor men's restroom in Old Main.
Although most of the damages have been repaired, the perpetrator(s) behind the graffiti found in several men’s bathrooms on the UW-Superior campus in recent months is still at large.
Campus Safety Security Officer and Investigator Michael Bodin confirms that the graffiti that appeared inside bathrooms in McCaskill Hall and Old Main shares the same emblem/tag and is believed to have been drawn by the same offender(s).
Custodial Supervisor Frank Andrews says graffiti is surprisingly a common occurrence on the UWS Campus.
“As much as I don’t like to say it, we see [graffiti] all the time,” said Andrews.
Though most graffiti that Andrews encounters is easily cleaned with graffiti wipes, he says a portion of a bathroom on the first floor of Old Main will have to be repainted due to the most recent incident.
While graffiti creates an unattractive spectacle, repair costs can be ugly as well. Andrews says that once all damages are fully repaired, it will cost the University around $500.
Yet, the fine for this act of vandalism only totals $263.50 once the offender(s) are fully prosecuted, according to Bodin.
Director of Campus Safety Gary Gulbrandson says that they are still investigating the matter at this point and have received information they are following up on.
Students are encouraged to report suspicious activity to Campus Safety. Those who come forward with information leading to prosecution will receive a reward that is yet to be determined.
The Campus Safety office is located on the lower level of the Rothwell Student Center in room 53. Office hours are weekdays 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Campus Safety can be also reached at 715-394-8247.
