The men’s and women’s hockey teams
both made it into the next round of the playoffs due to a big win by both teams
this past Saturday.
The men’s hockey team will play in the Peters Cup final this Saturday March 5 at 7:05 p.m. as they face St. Norbert College in Ashwaubenon, Wisc. This Peters Cup final will feature the top two seeds in the NCHA.
“I have faith in the personnel that we have in our locker room.," junior forward Tomaz Budziakowski said. "I truly believe that we control our destiny, and there is no reason why we shouldn’t be playing at the end of March in Minneapolis.”
The winner of this game would receive an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
Tickets for Yellowjacket fans are priced at $6 and $8. It all depends on the location of the seat. Tickets can be purchased by phone through the St. Norbert College box office, 24-hours a day by calling (800) 762-2699. Tickets purchased will be available game night at the will-call window
UW-Superior also has a fan bus going to the men’s game on Saturday. For more information, contact Dave Oviatt with the 'Jacket Ice Booster Club at (715) 392-2756 or (218) 591-2751.
With their win this past Saturday, the women's hockey team has advanced to the O'Brien Cup Championship Series, which will take place this coming weekend in River Falls, Wisc.
The women’s first test will take place against Adrian College Friday March 4 at 7:05 p.m. If they win this semi-final game, they will face the winner of the UW-River Falls/Concordia-Wisconsin that also takes place on Friday.
The final will take place on Saturday March 5 at 2:05 p.m. The winner of this final will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.
“We have a very young but very talented team," said junior goaltender Amy Torgerson. "I believe that we have the ability to go as far as we want. When we show up and play 'Jacket Hockey' as Coaches Dan Laughlin and Jamie Stauber refer to, we are unbeatable. We have targets on our backs being a top 10 team in the nation, so this journey will not be an easy one, but a national title is definitely not impossible for this team to attain."
Tickets will go on sale one hour prior to each game in River Falls. Pricing is $8 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens, and free for children four and under.
