Big game from Forwards wasn't enough for the victory

The University of Wisconsin - Superior women’s basketball team lost a close game against UW-Platteville Saturday, January 23 with a score of 80-77.

The Yellowjackets played tough in this back and forth game. In the first half the ‘Jackets were led by sophomore Bri Davis from Hermantown, MN. Davis had fifteen points at the midway mark, followed closely by sophomore Hailey Hart from Osseo, WI who tallied 12 points.

The ‘Jackets offense shot 59.3% in the first half and 44.4% from the three point line.

In the second half it continued to be a battle with neither team pulling away. The Yellowjackets just ran out of time in the end, missing a last second three point attempt from the corner to tie it.
 
The ‘Jackets shot 60.8% and 43.8% from the three point line. Despite a high percentage, the Pointers were able to make key shots and the end and went away with the win.

Hart finished the game with 25 points followed by Davis with 23. Davis was two rebounds short of a double-double with eight. Hart followed close and pulled down five.

The Yellowjacket’s defensive performance was not bad either, holding the Pioneers to 43.3% shooting. The deciding factor of the game was turnovers. The Jackets committed 23 turnovers to the Pioneers’ 12.

UW-Superior is back in action this Wednesday, January 27 at UW-River Falls at 7 PM.
