An annual open forum detailing proposed cost increases for the next academic year was held on February 25 in the Yellowjacket Union, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Superior budget analyst Jeff Kahler.
The proposed increases would affect the costs of parking permits, room and board, meal plans, and segregated fees for the 2010-11 academic year. About 15 people representing various UWS departments attended the forum; no students were in attendance.
According to Kahler, these fee increase proposals happen annually during spring semester.
“These fee proposals are developed by managers on campus, then the proposals are sent to SUFAC. If no significant objections are raised by SUFAC, the fees [proposals] are sent to the Chancellor for approval.”
Kahler also said that this open forum about segregated fees is held annually around this time.
“Usually the first thing I try to do during spring semester is get with SUFAC [and work out the budget and fee increases], then when we’re done, we present it to the campus community,” said Kahler.
