The alumni photography exhibit now on display in the Kruk Gallery features two artists who have shared a lot – a school to learn at, a school to teach at and now a photography exhibit.

Victor Pagona and Richard Kline have remained in close contact since they completed their BFA degrees in 1996 and their master’s in 1997, both at UWS. So close that they now both teach art in the same department across the country at the Southwest School of Arts and Craft in San Antonio, TX. In addition to teaching, Pagona is the Director of Photography.

Kim Borst, an assistant professor in the Photography, Art History and Graduate seminar departments, said Pagona and Kline’s exhibit originated from a phone call nearly over a year ago he received from Pagona.

“Richard really wanted to do an exhibit here, and I have a solo exhibit at their school. So I figured, why not?” said Borst.  “These works are quite different than what they did while they were learning here,” he continued.

The exhibit, which is on display now through September 25, features an array of works by both artists.

While the pair has shared much in their lives, their artwork is individually distinct. Kline opted for a more intricate, intimate feel with his insect photography, while Pagona’s work features photos of the female form and altered dictionary pages.

The Kruk Gallery is open weekdays from 9 AM to 4 PM and is located on the first floor in the Holden Fine Arts Building.
