What you missed in this week's student digest 10/01/2009

The bitter Superior weather decided to start rearing its ugly head this week. What a joy it is to be reminded so soon that Old Man Winter will be biting at our toes in a few short months.  Yet, just because the weather has taken a frosty turn doesn’t mean that the Digest has any fewer postings.  In case you missed being informed of what’s happening/happened this week, there is plenty that could keep you warm.

Blood Drive

Ever since we’ve all turned seventeen, we’ve been asked regularly to donate blood. Now it’s understandable if you are queasy when it comes to blood or needles, but in all reality blood is a highly needed resource in American hospitals. One of the facts in the Digest note was that blood is needed every three seconds. If you want to donate, the drive will be held in RSC’s Circle Drive 10 am-2 pm on October 8. This blood drive is in the honor of UWS Student Jamie McClintock.

Comedian Rob Little
As someone who went to this YAC sponsored event, I know that a lot of students got the memo about this comedian. Yes, this already took place people.  UWS had a comedian who was named Best Comedian of the Year by Maxim Magazine on its premises and to those who came; they were given an amazing treat. Rob Little was hilarious, and if you missed all the signs around campus, the sandwich boards in the Concourse, and the reminder on the Digest (or if you did see all these and chose to ignore them) you missed one amazing show.

RSC Calendar Events/Meetings
Rothwell Student Center is the home of many organizations. When I say home, I mean that these organizations meet, converse, and make plans there. What you didn’t know is that each week, all that is occurring (meetings and events) Monday through Friday in RSC gets posted to the Digest. This posting does two things: provides information so students can get involved, and it proves that on campus there is always something going on.  Again, this happens weekly, so check it out, find something that interests you, and get involved!

Other things you may want to check out:
-SOAP’s Ely’s Peak Climbing Trip: Saturday October 3, 9 am-5pm $30 for SOAP Members, $50 for Non-SOAP Members
- Fall UWS Family Weekend: October 3 & 4
-Learn to Swim at HWC: for more information contact Rebecca Williams
