Whoa. Not much going on today on campus. I think everybody's still wishing they were on break. Not a long enough time for anybody, from what I hear.

SOAP and SGA are putting on a Moonlight Walk tonight at 7:30. You can register by contacting SOAP or the SGA. It looks like it will be a decent night for a walk, and there's nothing like it to clear out your brain.

Good morning, campers! Coming into the home stretch now.

As part of their Earth Week program, SGA will have a table in the YU today devoted to agriculture. Stop by and see what's up. This evening there will be Paint-a-Pot from 6 to 8, followed by Green Grocery Bingo at 8, sponsored by SGA and YAC. All events are in the YU atrium.

And from 1 – 2:15 in the Multicultural Center, the Superior Stew Conversation will be led by Duluth marketing company Swim Creative. They'll be talking about the marketing concepts behind the Unfair Campaign.

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen! I hope you all had a restorative week off, and I'm sure you're all bursting with excitement to get back to the grind. So here to help you is - you guessed it - the Buzz!!

Today kicks off Earth Week at UWS, and SGA will have a table set up all week 11 to 1 in the YU, as well as a bunch of other stuff planned to help people in becoming more sustainable. The week ends with Earth Hour, when ideally everyone turns off their electricity for an hour. The campus is doing it; why can't you?

Tonight is the last night of March Music Madness in the YU, featuring bands Beyond the Bird and Suburban Jesus at 8 p.m. At the very least go support your classmates. They're brave enough to get up and perform, and a little encouragement goes a long way.

First Year Experience is giving out tips on how to stick to your Spring Semester plan today from 12 to 1 in the YU. Plus they're giving out treats. It's a win-win! However, I think the tips could have been more helpful at the beginning of the semester. Just saying...

First, the important stuff. Sunrise: 7:20, sunset: 7:14. That's right. We are almost to the “more day than night” portion of the year. And just minutes left before spring break. Now to things to distract you until then.

The Social Inquiry Department will be hosting “Strategies of Death and Discrimination” with guest speaker José Jorge Mendoza on the subject of immigration and government policies. That's in the YU Great Room, 1 to 2:30 p.m.

The K-12 Art Exhibit in the Kruk Gallery is ending today, with a reception from 5 to 7 for the artists. A great opportunity to encourage the new wave of artists.

The Gender Equity Program invites you to come talk about the roles of  women and children one year after the tsunami in Japan. Guest speaker will be Ai Ozawa. There will be paper crafts, too. 6 to 7:30 in Swenson 1031.

And to wrap it up YAC and WSA will be presenting the Celtic rock band Green Tea. They've opened for a ton of people you love, so I'm guessing you'll like them too. 8 to 10, YU Great Room.

The first Celebration of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Activity will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. tonight in the Jim Dan Hill Library. Mingling starts at 4, certificates awarded at 5. Free refreshments. Go. You probably know a lot of them. Sponsored by the Transportation and Logistics Management Program and JDH Library.

“Dads in the Door” will be having an evening of fun at the climbing wall in MWC, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dads, bring your kids and have some fun! Sponsored by the Gender Equity Program.

Meet the new person on the Campus Recreation Fitness team, personal trainer Savannah Smith, from 7 to 8 p.m. in YU 201. Put your name in for a chance at a free fitness assessment.

UW-Superior choirs are giving it their all with World Song. Mongolian throat singing, New Zealand war chants, and “Loch Lomond”. Wherever your people came from, it's all here with the combined Chamber and Acappella choirs, under the direction of Dr. Matthew Faerber. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. tonight in Thorpe Langley. Tickets are $5 and $3 for students.

 “Are you telling me that you built a time machine...out of a De Lorean?” There's an 8 p.m. showing of “Back to the Future” in the Swenson Lecture Hall. Free popcorn. Part of Spring Fever Week, brought to you by Student Involvement. Does it get any better?

I knew I was forgetting something.

Hope for Japan starts (started, really) at 11:30 a.m. today in the YU and will go until 1:00 p.m.; it will be in the same place, same time through Thursday. Stop by to write an encouraging message to the children of Japan and their families who have been devastated by the tsunami last year. They could really use the hope your words will provide!

Interested in becoming a Superior Ally? They're holding a training session tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. in YU 202. Registration is preferred but not required to attend. They'll be focusing on self-discovery, action-oriented ways of thinking, and other basic skills Allies need to face the issues facing diversity. I'm hoping to make it myself.

Then starting at 8 p.m. is March Music Madness in the YU Atrium. The featured artists are student hip-hop artists Donte P. and local band Diet Folk. This is YAC's version of March Madness, so it should be a good bit of fun!

Survival journal, week seven: It's getting harder and harder to get out of bed in the morning. I long for more than six hours of sleep, but we have to keep going. There are only two weeks left until help arrives, but I fear for my companions. 

Thankfully, there is a survival bracelet and whistle clinic being put on by SOAP tonight in the YU between 5 and 7 p.m. I think these essential items will help us through the difficult times ahead, and I urge everyone to attend lest it spell their doom.

First. E-hive will be going down for maintenance at 4:30 this afternoon. You've been warned. No excuses for not checking ahead of time.

Second. Aaron Wainman's senior recital will be tonight at Webb Recital Hall in Holden Fine Arts. 7:30. Free. I bet it will be great.

Third. “50/50” will show in the Great Room over at YU. 8 pm. Sponsored by RHA. Also free.

We'll start off with a Write-In today, noon to 1 in the Erlenbach Gathering Area of Swenson. It's an opportunity to reflect on the Anti-Racism campaign, and it will start off with an introduction by members of the Writing Faculty. Contribute your 2¢.

Later, as part of the University Recital Series, soprani Vicki Fingalson, violinist Erin Aldritch, and pianist Beth Gilbert will be performing  arrangements for voice and violin. Webb Recital Hall in Holden Fine Arts. 7:30 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students.
